Cherryblossom

I still recall the day I met her
An April morning just like any other; just one of those things And now I can’t seem to forget her
The march of time it fills my mind with memories of spring
She had a smile that looked like sunshine
With cherry blossoms falling in her hair as black as night
And when I saw her I lost my mind
But when I looked into her eyes I knew everything would be all right
And it seems that I am kissing lips like Cherryblossom’s in my dreams But when I wake up they’re all gone so
I have to wait ‘til April showers bring this flower back to me
I’ll see her when winter’s chill is done
She told me she lived with her father
But every summer flew from Brooklyn to her mom’s in Tokyo
We spent three rainy weeks together
But when the seasons changed she got on that plane and I had to watch her go
The sunrise means the cold is fading
The warmer weather breathes its promise to the buds on every tree And I just cannot stand the waiting
‘Til winter ends and springtime brings her back to me
And it’s cold outside, but I’ve got my love to keep me warm

Unmade

I can’t see the future.
There’s nothing but glass in my crystal ball.
And if you’d have asked, I’d have told you I’d passed On my last chance to fall in love
I’m on this road for the first time
And there’s no prints on the path I’ve been shown I don’t know where I’m going
But thanks to you I won’t get there alone
‘Cause I know that this much is true:
I want to come home to a bed that’s been unmade by you And I don’t have a plan, but I’m not scared.
Let’s work backwards from there.
No-one knows what’ll happen tomorrow There’s no way to tell by looking at the stars. But I fell for you. I’m still falling.
And I’m happy to land wherever you are.
Maybe someday you’ll say you’re going away; Maybe I’ll be the one through the door.
But until that time it’s just your heart and mine, And I don’t think we need any more.
‘Cause if we know where we are, and we know where we want to be, We’ll get there, my love, just as long as you stay with me.
There’s a part of my heart that I want you to share.
Let’s work backwards from there.

It started when we both swiped right...
Our fingers set the stage for lovin’ in the modern age
I said “I want to see you tonight” and you agreed
Words heavy with a natural need
I woke up with the sun in my eyes
And your hand on my chest. Asked “again?” and I heard you whisper “Yes”
Now I’ve fallen and I can’t get out.
Well maybe it’s crazy, but baby I’m sayin’
I want this to be more than just late nights at your door
I know I should probably take it slow,
But I’m hopin’ you’re open to making this mistake with me. ‘Cause I feel like I’ve got nothing but time
To sit around and wait for you to take your place in my life
I’m usually more careful than this,
Yeah I have to admit I’m afraid to fall in love
But there’s no fear that comes with the idea
That the next time you come over, you might just stay here
And I know this was supposed to be a casual thing
With no regrets and no mess and I have no business buying this ring
But I’ve fallen, and I don’t want to get out
You should ask me to come over
Why don’t you ask me... you should tell me to come over
And you tell me to come, but then I want to stay
And the way we spend our nights stays with me all day Got my head spinning round and my heart is upside down And I’m falling oh yeah
Well maybe it’s crazy, but baby I’m saying
What started as a fling feels just like the real thing
The sex is amazing, but it’s your texts that I’m craving
And I just unmatched all the others I’ve been saving
I’m not typically a guy who’s big on monogamy
But if you want to lock me down I’ll give you my spare key
And I’ll pencil you into my calendar for the days that end in ‘y’ And why not? I’m addicted. Your loving gets me high.
I know I’ve got nothing but time
To sit around with you, and put my phone away
And watch Netflix And chill

She can never resist her favourite song
Left her purse on a chair with her keys and her phone With a drink in her hand she’s at one with the band But these boys on the floor just won’t leave her alone
And every time she drops it the whole room stops but she doesn’t seem to care
The rhythm in her soul makes her lose control like nobody else is there
And she don’t want a man for no one night stand
And she don’t need no love; the music is more than enough
So you should understand when you take her hand that you don’t stand a chance... ‘cause all she wants to do is dance
You know she’s not out there ‘cause she’s got something to prove
And it’s not that she thinks that she’s too good for you
She’s just trying to get in the zone she can only find when she’s all alone Still these guys want to try so she closes her eyes ‘cause she just needs some room to move
So no matter what you say she don’t need your name, there’s no number for you to call
The rhythm in her soul makes her lose control and she’s not going to stop ‘til she’s lost it all
And she don’t want a man for no long term plan
And she don’t need no love, the music is more than enough
So you should understand when you take her hand that you don’t stand a chance... ‘cause all she wants to do is dance
